LET'S NOT GET INTO A DEBATE ABOUT THE APPROPRIATENESS OF A MILITARY
RESPONSE, but I find your impression interesting. I saw a poll last night
that said that about 66% of the people polled favored a military response
even if it meant a large number of American casualties. Only about 25% were
opposed.

As I said before, I don't think polls are appropriate at this time, but I
thought the poll was about right. I go to a pretty liberal law school in a
pretty liberal city and nearly everyone that I have heard talk about the
issue has expressed support for a military response against the people
responsible for the attack and any country that harbors them. Again, I
don't want to debate this issue, but I find your sample amazing. You must
know a lot of pacifists!
