"CHICAGO, April 25.--Representatives of sixty broadcasting stations from
twelve states, meeting here today, organized the National Association of
Broadcasters and prepared to press an effort to prove their right to
broadcast copyright music."

ASCAP had recently asked broadcasters for royalties but theater
producers objected to songs from their musicals being broadcast,
royalties or not.

"The result, according to the broadcasters, is that radio concerts have
been 'dry' for the past few weeks because all the popular songs were
barred. The broadcasters maintain they make no money but give the music
free advertising."
